Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high-speed three dimensional optical imaging technique that is widely used in various biomedical applications. As the utility of OCT grew, the demand for the OCT system with higher speed increased. In this thesis, the systematic development for ultrahigh-speed OCT platform was performed. As a result, a significant increase in the speed of the wavelength swept laser was achieved, which is the most important parameter that determines the imaging speed. Various scanning system for imaging optics were also developed for higher imaging speed. Such advancement in imaging speed brought great benefits observing the dynamics of the blood flow and the cardiovascular system.
