Noble metal nanocrystals (NCs) with controlled morphologies and compositions have shown great applicable potentials as electrocatalytic materials. Recently, the incorporation of plasmonic function into NC-based electrocatalysts has been considered as a highly promising approach to promote the electrocatalytic activity and stability due to the synergism between plasmonic and catalytic functions. This review highlights the latest advancements in plasmon-enhanced electrocatalysis with multi-metallic heteronanostructures with integrated plasmonic and catalytic functions. We also provide a perspective for designing new types of heteronanostructures for plasmon-enhanced electrocatalysis, which can be useful to the development of a new class of energy conversion systems.
