에너지 검출기를 위한 효율적인 임계값 설정 방법이 개시된다. 인지 통신 환경의 에너지 검출기에서 우선순위 사용자(primary user)의 신호 유무를 판단하기 위해 사용되는 임계값(threshold)을 설정하는 방법은, 상기 우선순위 사용자에게 할당된 주파수에 대한 극한 로그생성함수(asymptotic log-generating function)를 계산하는 단계; 및 상기 극한 로그생성함수를 이용하여 상기 임계값을 설정하는 단계를 포함한다.
