The purpose of this study was to evaluate the brachial-ankle plsue wave velocity (baPWV) on Korean adult males and females from social and physical points of view. 956 subjects were employed for the evaluation and they were divided into 12 groups according to their age and gender. Further we considered subjects’ exercise status to investigate the effect of exercise on the baPWV. For the investigation, the scatter plot analysis and the chi-square test were employed with the baPWV and its normal rate, which is defined as a proportion of subjects within normal baPWV ranges. The results show that the baPWV is linearly related to the age, and baPWVs in the male are slightly higher than them in the female but this tendency is reduced with increasing ages. Further the results indicate that people who exercise regularly have lower baPWV than unexercised people. These results can be explained by high smoking and high-risk drinking rates in twenties, nutritional imbalance, lack of physical activity with increasing ages, and low participation rate of Korean adults for physical activities
