The market environment of wireless Internet is rapidly changing as the boundary of wired and wireless communications services has blurred. Wireless Internet services will further develop as public wireless LAN is introduced and extended such that the number of hot spots exceeds more than 10,000 sites this year. Public wireless LAN is likely to become a powerful alternative to IMT2000 that serves as a driving force behind the full-fledged wireless Internet service. In this thesis, customers`` preferences for both public wireless LAN and IMT2000 are analyzed in order to interpret their market implications. The conclusion shows that there is a difference in the customers`` preferences between PWLAN and IMT2000. PWLAN has a competitive advantage over 3G which would have impacts on wireless Internet from many perspectives. It also appears that monthly fee and speed are considered more important than service area.
