The checklist method is rapid and comprehensive to evaluate the system effectiveness in practice. The basic philosophy is the human``s ability to summarize informations. It is widely used in many fields.
Since the human judgements include vagueness in spite of their significancy, fuzzy sets theory is useful in evaluating the system effectiveness. The evaluation method of system effectiveness is presented when the ratings and weights are evaluated as fuzzy numbers. This method is based on simple additive weighting method in multi-attribute decision making and extension principle in fuzzy sets theory. The measure of rank based on maximizing set and minimizing set is used to compare and to rank the results. The concept of the approximation of weighted average to evaluate individual object is proposed. There is no complicated mathematics used in this study. Numerical example in the field of safety assessment is shown. Similar applications can be developed as specializations, variations, or extensions of this procedure.
