Energy-aware resource allocation in WLAN mobile devices = 에너지 소비를 고려한 무선 랜 기기에서의 자원 할당

This thesis focuses on low-power usages of mobile devices in wireless environment. Recently, many researchers are concentrating on power issues for long battery life. However, many of them consider only MAC(Medium Access Control) protocol with necessity of modification of that. In this thesis, we develop a resource allocation algorithm for low-power consumption without considering lower layer protocol. This algorithm provides fairness, efficiency and stability by using optimization framework in mobile station. The solution has seven steady states determined by demands of CPU, bandwidth, and power. According to each state, the fairness definition is varied, and fairness is achieved. Simply we propose an optimization approach to flow control where the objective is to maximize the aggregate utility over their transmission rate with consideration of CPU, bandwidth, and power. Finally, we verify this algorithm by simulation using Intel $Centrino^{TM}$ parameter, which shows the efficiency of our algorithm.
