Most of useful radical reactions are based on tin compound. It makes techniques using tin inappropriate for industrial process the fact that organotin residues are toxic.
The methods of radical reactions without tin was introduced in the recent years.
A radical allylation using sulfonyl compounds was already presented.
We studied the methods of radical alkylation using alkyl sulfonyl formohydroxime. Initiator was added to O-benzyl alkyl sulfonyl formohydroxime to produce alkyl sulfonyl radical. If the alkyl group represents a stabilized radical, extrusion of sulfur dioxide occurs readily. Addition of alkyl radical to oxime ether derivatives afforded alkyl formohydroxime. Primary alkyls consisting of various functional group was added to O-benzyl ether oxime.
These harmless methods to circumstance are desired to use for producing drugs and other humane consumption.
