This thesis presents a design of Read-out Integrated Circuit (ROIC) for Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) application. The ROIC is designed by 2 architectures correspond with 2 distance measurement methods. In the first method, a narrow band ROIC uses a narrow band RF front-end receiver to receive a constant frequency electronic signal which is generated from a optical to electronic down-conversion mixer of LIDAR system. Therefore, the total in-band input referred noise is improved, and maximum measurement distance is longer. In the second method, a conventional ROIC is designed to deal with inconstant frequency electronic signal in practical case. Implemented in a 65nm CMOS technology, the proposed ROIC is designed to have 1.5cm distance resolution, 10m maximum range.
