Axion is a hypothetical particle originated from the Pecci and Quinn mechanism which was proposed by Peccei and Quinn in order to solve the strong CP problem. They introduce a global chiral symmetry which is called $U_(PQ)$(1) Peccei-Quinn symmetry. It is spontaneously broken and dynamically produces a slowly oscillating axion particle field. The axion is an excellent cold dark matter candidate with extremely weak coupling to normal matter. Physicists are searching for the axion with various methods for decades. Among them, the axion haloscope is known to be the most sensitive detector concept to date. The detector consist of a resonant cavity, frequency tuning system, signal receiver chain, low noise amplifiers and a strong solenoid magnet. In this thesis, we describe the axion haloscope and introduce CAPP18T experiment which is one of the axion haloscope located in Korea. The CAPP18T is aim to make an axion haloscope which is sensitive to KSVZ coupled axion using a strong solenoid magnet, which can generate high magnetic field up to 18 T. We describe the CAPP18T and the 4K test result in this thesis.
