Highly Hazy Glass-fabric Reinforced Quantum Dot Hybrimer (QD-GFRHybrimer) Phosphor Film for Improved Luminescent Display/Lighting

Quantum dot(QD) displays or lightings are intensly spotlighted nowadays due to its high color purity and the wide color gamut. For example, QD film is widely used over variety places such as TV or monitors. For this application, QD films should be highly luminescent. Recently, therefore, diffusing agents such as silica particles are contained in QD films to enhance the luminescence efficiency. The luminescence efficiency of silica particles contained QD films is increased by virtue of scattereing effect from the silica particle. However, aggregation of particles or spatial difference due to the ununiform dispersion of particles could be occurred. In our group, we researched to resolve this problems and we found that glass-fabric can replace silica particles not occuring such problems. Previously, our group reported rollable glass-fabric reinforced siloxane hybrid composite (GFRHybrimer) film for substrate of flexible devices.[1] It is fabricated by very simple process; impregnation then curing. And, siloxane encapsulated QD composite (QD/Siloxane) was also introduced by our group.[2] In this research, we fabricated QD-GFRHybrimer film which is combination of GFRHybrimer film with our QD/Siloxane matrix. Fig. 1(a) shows the fabricated 4 sheets of glass-fabric impregnated QD-GFRHybrimer film. For this QD-GFRHybrimer film, haze can be easily controlled then the luminscence efficiency could also be improved. We carried out by two methods to control the haze; (i) tuning the refractive index of QD/Siloxane matrix and (ii) changing the number of sheets. Fig. 1(b) and (c) shows photoluminescence intensity accoriding to the haze of the film by tuning the QD/Siloxane matrix and by increasing the number of glass-fabric, respectively. According to the Fig. 1(b) and (c), luminscence efficiency was highly improved as increasing the haze.
