For high energy density with high power density, Lithium-ion capacitors (LICs) have received considerable attention in recent years. However, matching the charge-storage capacitor imbalance between battery-type anode and capacitor-type cathode is still a big challenge due to the low capacitance of cathode. In this work, facile synthesis of multiscale porous P-doped 3D carbon networks is reported. Physical and electrochemical studies reveal that this carbon structure contains multiscale pores, which allow efficient ion diffusion and charge transfer, resulting in the excellent charge-storage capacity and rate capability. Also, additional P doping has profound effect in tuning the porosity, functional groups and electrical conductivity for the porous carbon nanofibers. With rational design, the developed multiscale porous P-doped carbon networks (PKAC) exhibit greatly improved electrochemical performance as not only cathode but also anode for LICs.
