The purpose of this study is to develop an interaction model by analyzing the interaction of the Single-person household in the residential space. Nowadays the number of Single-person households is rapidly increasing in South Korea. It is a social phenomenon that has never been seen before in South Korea. Thus, many studies are focusing on Single-person household, but there are two limitations in the previous research. First, through interaction technology, Single-person household pursues a connected life for a social network rather than a multi-family household. However, the research on the interaction of Single-person household living in Korea has not been conducted about that. For this reason, interaction analysis is required for Single-person household. Secondly previous interaction research focuses on the system or whole user. They do not consider the characteristics of Single-person household. The Single-person households have different trends by gender and age, and have various characteristics. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the interaction that reflects the characteristics of them. To develop an interaction model, we conducted an in-depth interview and found four user types and nine user actions from affinity diagram. With this, we developed four personas and developed nine action scenarios for each persona. This means that it consists of 36 action scenarios in total. Then, based on the developed scenarios, we analyzed the systems used in the interaction. These systems are analyzed based on nine actions, which means Everyday things that they has interacted with. Then we visualized the interaction model for each persona. Four interaction models have been developed to suit the characteristics of the four personas, reflecting the characteristics of each persona. The interaction model reflects the Single-person household’s interactions in residential space and visualizes to understand the overall flow of interaction effectively for designers and developers. This can be used as an interaction design tool and communication tool when developing the product or service for Single-person households.
