A research on Transmitting (Tx)-coil design with various magnetic reflectors is proposed for ubiqui-tous wireless power transfer system (UWPTS). This research focused on the method of magnetic shielding to mitigate the magnetic field in the non-targeted area of the ubiquitous wireless power transfer (U-WPT) system and to reduce the magnetic field inside the Tx-coil at the operating frequency of 100 kHz. Several magnetic reflectors such as al-plate only, cancel-coil only, cancel-coil with al-plate and cancel-coil with auxiliary core were used with dipole type transmitting coils. The results are compared and verified by both simulation and experiment in order to get the effective magnetic cancel method. The proposed Tx-coil de-sign with magnetic reflectors is not only used to cancel the magnetic field in the non-targeted area but also to keep the magnetic field of the targeted area same as when there is no magnetic reflector. The design of dipole Tx-coil with DQ operation is used to generate the circulating magnetic field. The square type dipole coil is used in order to cover the long distance capability. The modularization of the Tx-coil has been made in order to commercialize the proposed Tx-coil design based on the different size of the rooms. The uniform magnetic flux generated by the modularization of Tx-coil is verified experimentally in order to use the Tx-coil design with magnetic reflectors for ubiquitous wireless power transfer system.
