This paper proposes a new two-phase Design of experiment (DOE) procedure for the wind tunnel testing based aerodynamic modeling. The proposed procedure, comprised of the adaptive subspace definition phase and the main experiment phase, systematically generates the subspaces while considering the goodness of fit constraint and applies the Central composite design (CCD) to each of defined subspaces. The boundary overlapping between adjacent subspaces were used to prevent the discontinuities in the models. A case study of the aerodynamic coefficient modeling of a fighter aircraft based on the wind tunnel testing with the proposed procedure is conducted to demonstrate its effectiveness.
